Menopause

Menopause

What is the menopause?

The menopause is the end of a woman’s fertile period. During this phase of life, the ovaries stop gradually with the production of oestrogen, the female sex hormone.

Oestrogen affects the functioning of many organs and systems in the body, such as the cardiovascular system, breasts and urinary tract. The reduction of oestrogen production will change much in the female body during menopause. This may cause symptoms such as irregular bleeding, hot flashes, poor sleep, muscle and joint pain, mood swings, not wanting sex, depressed mood and headache. It is worth remembering that the menopause is not a disease, but that it can make you feel ill.
