Rectal skin tags

Rectal skin tags

Rectal skin tags are small skin folds around the anus, which are usually harmless. They are often small, soft and fleshy in texture and are usually the same colour as the surrounding skin. Rectal skin tags are usually not considered harmful and generally do not cause pain or discomfort. They often arise as a result of stretched skin, such as in pregnancy, obesity, anal sex or certain medical conditions such as haemorrhoids. In some cases they may be removed by means of an outpatient procedure (minor surgery) under local anaesthesia.
